NHC is a private fee-paying school because it only receives minimal financial support from the educational authorities due to the time consuming specialist teaching methods it uses.

Affordability has always been a huge problem for the school. This is because we need small classes, which in turn require more teachers, more equipment, greater remedial needs, more specialised equipment which all costs more money. We cannot lower the fees which would allow more learners, because our costs won’t be covered. Unfortunately, as the majority of pupils come from the most financially and socially challenged areas, the fees are unaffordable to most – forcing us to perform with very limited funds.

We believe good things are on
their way

NHC is at a crossroad. There are no similar schools in the area that cope with the needs of pupils who would otherwise flounder in standard educational systems – because they do not fit in, have learning disabilities or severe behavioural problems.

The needs of the children have fuelled our expansion – allowing us to provide love, understanding and education to suit individual needs, not provided elsewhere – to many more children.

In reality NHC has almost outgrown the beautiful location it currently occupies, the temporary hut-type class rooms which have been begged, borrowed or purchased using the teachers own monies – are almost at full capacity.

We really require help with the following wish list in order to carry on the uphill struggle:

  • Additional classrooms

  • Insulation of existing classrooms

  • Student scholarships – JUNIORS £140/MONTH, SENIORS £195/MONTH

  • A school bus

  • Sports facilities & equipment

  • Toilet & washing facilities

  • A library

  • Used books

  • Used clothing

  • Used toys

  • Upgrading of computers / software / photocopiers

  • Need more practical equipment and facilitators in the class rooms

  • Integrated Learnership Programmes for teachers, psychologists and other specialists to develop their skills.
